The Sophia of Jesus Christ

The Sophia of Jesus Christ is a Christian redaction of Eugnostos, a Sethian Gnostic treatise on the metaphysical origins of the universe. Here, the account is recast as a post-resurrection dialogue between Jesus and his disciples Thomas, Philip, Matthew, Bartholomew, and notably Mary Magdalene. The narrative opens with the risen Christ appearing atop the Mountain of Olives as the disciples ponder the deeper mysteries of the world, power, providence, and the divine plan. There he explains the nature of reality, the structure of the heavens, and the ineffable source of everything. The dialogue concludes with a brief explanation of evil before the disciples depart to preach the gospel with joy.
