The Idea of Our Great Power is a revelatory account that explains the events of Christian history from a cosmic perspective. The treatise is narrated by an unnamed, Christ-like divinity who unfolds a story of mankind's spiritual warfare across three eras of creation. The first age is man's struggle against matter, the second his contest with the antichrist, and the third a final conflagration on the Day of Judgment.
The text contrasts the self-sustaining, heavenly waters against the self-destructive fires of the archons. Indeed, the final tribulation is brought on not by God, but by the rulers themselves consuming everything, even themselves, in an inferno meant to burn the world. The narrator reveals that humanity will overcome the archons by channeling a great, collective power available to those who know Sophia. The Idea of Our Great Power provides a distinctive eschatological vision and hope in the transformative power of knowledge.
