The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ is a 1908 gospel account published by Levi Dowling, who said he transcribed it from the Akashic Records during contemplative practice. The text narrates Jesus’s “lost years,” the largely silent span between his youth and public ministry. During this time the young Christ travels the world, reaching places as distant as Persia, Greece, and even Tibet. While in India, Jesus impresses Brahmic priests but is driven out after delivering pointed sermons against the caste system. After studying with mystics in Greece and Assyria, Jesus is initiated in the Egyptian temple of sacred brotherhood, passing seven spiritual tests to receive the title "Christ." Finally, he joins the Council of Seven Sages to frame principles for a coming Aquarian age before returning for John's baptism and the start of his New Testament ministry. The Aquarian Gospel blends New Age esotericism with the Christian story and endures as a cult classic in spiritualist circles.
