This tractate is called A Valentinian Exposition with Liturgical Readings because it succinctly describes the salvation history of the world and then concludes with a series of liturgical readings pertaining to anointing, baptism, and the Eucharist. The exposition narrates the story of Sophia's error, her fall from heaven, and how Jesus plays a role in her redemption. The liturgy that follows invites the believer to a similar redemptive plan via the Valentinian sacraments. This tractate presents a rare glimpse into the practical aspects of Valentinian liturgical practices.
