The Book of Enoch

Enoch, aka 1 Enoch, consists of five sections scholars believe were written over the course of 400 years.

The Book of the Watchers

The theme of this book is Yahweh’s righteous anger. According to tradition, this text is a prequel to Noah’s Ark, as told from the perspective of his great grandfather Enoch in the 7th generation of Adam. Here, the sons of man have been led astray by the Watchers, a host of fallen angels who beget the Nephilim with the women of earth. As their sins grow, so too do the cries for justice, culminating in God’s wrath. Afterward, Enoch is taken up as in Genesis, and sees the heavenly realms. The Book of the Watchers provides a unique insight into the spiritual struggles of the antediluvian era.
