Thomas the Contender

Thomas the Contender is an ascetic account presented as a dialogue between Jesus and Thomas, who are said to be twins. As the two walk, they discuss theology, righteous living, and the impending doom of the godless. In its final section, Jesus launches into a fierce condemnation of those who abandon the truth. Thomas the Contender offers a striking glimpse into the eschatological urgency that fueled early ascetic movements.
