GNOSIS BOT

GnosisBot lets you quote gospels and other early Christian texts by reference. You can add it to your Discord server here. It includes versings from othergospels.com, with little blue numbers that take you to the given passage.

You can say things like Philip 6:28-30 or Eve 2-3 and see it reply.

There’s many translations to choose from. You can say things like Isaiah 45:7 KJV or Thomas 3 ALT to switch translations. If you love one in particular, use /set-translation or /set-book-translation to use it by default.

To avoid being quoted, put the verses in brackets. For example, we ignore references like [Mary 3:1-3]. You can also react with an ❌ to delete accidental messages.

GnosisBot supports slash commands, like /random for quoting popular verses.

Verse Commands

/random	Quotes a random popular passage.
/daily	Gets the verse of the day.
/true-random	Quotes a truly random passage.

/search	Semantic search of the scriptures.
/chat	Silly chats with famous figures.

Configuration

/translation	Displays your preferred translation, if any.
/set-translation	Sets your preferred translation.
/set-book-translation	Sets your preferred translation for a given book.
/set-quote-whole-chapters	Options for how to expand chapter references.

Server Configuration

/set-server-books	Compatibility settings for other bible bots.
/set-server-theme	Color preferences for your discord server.
/set-channel-trad-reactions	Whether to react with ✡️,✝️, and similar emojis.

/books	Lists all available books.
/invite	Invites the bot to your server.
/ignore-me	Opts you out of GnosisBot, preventing replies to your messages.
/stats	Statistics about GnosisBot and popular scriptures.

Sacred Spaces

Sacred spaces are special channels you can set up via /set-sacred-spaces. Use the parameters below to create a new experience.

Learn the Books	A game where users take turns learning the books of the bible and other holy texts.
Prayer Requests	Makes GnosisBot to react to all messages sent with a prayer emoji.
Strict Quotes	Automoderation feature where users must include verses (or quotes with a >) in their messages, deleting them otherwise. GnosisBot must have delete perms to work. Pairs well with /set-channel-trad-reactions.

SUPPORTED BOOKS

GnosisBot supports the following books. More will be added as we translate new works and complete their versings.

To reduce ambiguity with other Bible bots, books like Secret John allow alternate names. Saying Secret John 13:5-7 ALT might confuse other bots since they may incorrectly detect the suffix John 13:5-7. In these scenarios you can use other names like ajohn 13:5-7 ALT.

If a book only has a single chapter, you can say things like Thomas 70 and Thomas 1:70 interchangeably. This also works for verse ranges like Eve 2-3.
