2 Allogenes is a fragmentary text from Codex Tchacos IV about a mysterious man called “the Stranger,” or “Allogenes” in Coptic. After praying on Mount Tabor for guidance, Satan appears in hopes of corrupting him with the cravings of this world. Like Jesus in the New Testament, the Stranger rejects Satan, after which he encounters the divine. During this transformative experience, he learns how to overcome the powers of this world and ascend to the Father above. Note that, despite its name, this text is unrelated to 1 Allogenes from the Nag Hammadi library.
