The Gospel of Peter is a passion narrative traditionally attributed to the apostle Peter. The account tells the story of Jesus's death and resurrection from the perspective of the Jewish and Roman authorities, who are said to suppress the evidence of Christ's resurrection. The text appears to have been a favorite of Justin Martyr, and some scholars believe it may also be a fragment of Peter's Apocalypse. Regardless of one's scholarly opinions, the Gospel of Peter offers invaluable insights into the debate over Christ's bodily resurrection in the early Christian era.
