The Prayer of Azariah

The Prayer of Azariah and the Song of the Three Holy Children are additions to the Book of Daniel found in the Septuagint and the Latin Vulgate, and placed immediately after Daniel 3:23. In this text, Azariah (also known by his Babylonian name, Abednego) petitions the Lord for deliverance from the fiery furnace. The prayer and accompanying song offer messages of Israel's fallen state, Yahweh's universal dominion, and the ever-present possibility of redemption.
